Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb homemade or store-bought puff pastry
  • 2 cups peeled & diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated or brown sugar
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by rolling out your puff pastry on a floured surface into a square if making from scratch, or unrolling store-bought dough.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine diced apples, cornstarch, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar. Stir for about 5 minutes until softened. Let cool.
  3. Cut your pastry into squares (4-inch) and spoon apple filling onto each square.
  4. Fold to form triangles and crimp edges to seal. Chill for 15 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Brush turnovers with egg wash and cut steam vents.
  6. Bake for 23–25 minutes until golden brown. Cool briefly before serving.
